As we are sure you probably know, Danni Burrows in Y9 was diagnosed with bone cancer and was receiving treatment from Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Very sadly on Saturday morning she passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family.
This is a desperately sad and tragic situation for her family and all those who were close to her. There is already a Facebook Tribute Page in her memory to which many students have contributed.
It is our role as a school to be collectively strong and supportive for those people, especially those students and staff in school that were very close to her.
Our Chaplains and School Counsellor will be available during the next few days to support those particularly affected and would like someone to talk to. The SSC, as always, will also be available.
Very poignantly, Friday is a planned MUFTI day in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. We will designate it a “Wear Yellow for Danni Day” and have an assembly for her peers to celebrate her life.
In due course we will write to her parents expressing our condolences and we will be represented at her funeral.
