Ellowes Hall Sports College is thrilled to announce that it has has been described as Outstanding in all areas by a team of Ofsted inspectors who visited the school in mid-November, co-incidentally during the publicly acclaimed week of performances of The Phantom of the Opera.
Inspectors found the overall quality of teaching to be Outstanding with strengths including teachers’ planning, subject knowledge and high expectations. They also concluded that students’ excellent behaviour and positive attitudes helped them learn well. The Headteacher and other senior leaders were found to have an ambitious vision for the school and had secured and maintained high levels of achievement and personal development. The range of subjects on offer was found to be a strong feature of the school and played a major part in helping students to achieve outstanding outcomes.
Chair of the Governing Body, Mr Geoff Marsh, said how pleased he was that all the work of everyone involved in achieving such an accolade had been recognised including that of his fellow governors. We would like to recognise our students and all our staff for their commitment over a considerable number of years in order to reach this stage in the school’s development – but we promise that there is still more to come in the future.
