Last week we posted about Ellowes Hall Year 11 student, Hannah Baker, and her growing achievements and honours as a cricketer after she was selected to attend the ECB’s specialist spin bowling.
Today, we would just like to take the time to celebrate the success and achievement of a student who is showing great talent in her athletic life and continues to seek and seize opportunities.
Hannah has played for multiple teams, carrying her winning drive and determination along with her; Beacon Cricket Club, Quatt Ladies, Worcester County Cricket Club U15’s, U17s and Worcester Ladies are all clubs who have had the honour of being represented by Hannah as a Leg-spin bowler and Top-order batsman. During her time at Worcester Ladies, Hannah played against Heather Knight OBE (Captain of the Women’s England Cricket Team), Anya Shrubsole, Sohia Dunkley and Jenny Gunn. An amazing start to a promising cricket career!
Hannah has earned herself a place at the West Midlands Regional Development Centre for a second year running, being invited to play cricket at the RDC Festival at Shrewsbury School of which only approximately 120 young ladies nationwide are invited. She was also invited to play two T20 games for the England Academy in Surrey against the ICC Development Squad.
Showcasing Hannah’s achievement even further, she was selected amongst 24 other girls nationally for observations in Loughborough by the England Academy Coach after completing her successful season.
On behalf of Ellowes Hall and the INVICTUS Education Trust, we would like to wish Hannah Baker success for her future academic and athletic career which we are certain she will achieve. However, watch this space as we are sure there is more to come!
Here are some kind words featured in the local press:
“It is great to see someone locally playing at such a high level.” – Tom Hill, Board Cricket Development Director .(Worcester News, 2018).
“This is a brilliant opportunity for her to further her game and progress through our system and hopefully one day into our senior’s women’s team” – Sam Wyles, Women’s Rapids Senior Coach. (Worcestershire Cricket, 2018).

Thursday 3 October saw Ellowes Hall Sports College host Open Evening 2019. This years event saw a record attendance with hundreds upon hundreds of prospective students visiting our OUTSTANDING (OFTSED) School
The packed out auditorium were wowed by a number of performances, along with addresses from proud headteacher, Mr Jasper, and Invictus CEO, Mr Bowles followed by some truly inspiring stories from a range of our students.
Our prefects and student leaders acted as perfect hosts and tour guides as they led groups of prospective students around the school to check out the wonderful facilities, and see the fantastic activities that teachers and staff had organised in all subject areas.
This year departments pulled out all the stops. From (controlled!!!) explosions and chemical reactions in science, to crime scenes, an MFL cafe, impromptu musical performances, cadet base camp, PE demonstrations from our Alpha’s and athletes, robot wars, art displays, food tasters and plenty of problem solving in the maths department. The list is truly endless!
Mr Jasper and his team would like to thank everyone that attended, our students for serving the school with such distinction, and of course to the staff who go above and beyond to create such a special event.
A gallery of the evening is available on our school Facebook Page.
