  • To prepare and enable students to access IAG

  • To support and assist students in progressing to learning beyond 16

  • To ensure students access and benefit from external guidance provision

  • To provide a coherent learning framework 14-19

  • To maintain high aspirations

  • To provide vocational, enterprise and work related learning as well as an academic curriculum

How you can help

In order for the above to be successful, we value the support of Parents/Carers and here are some examples of how you can help your child:

  • Read the student careers page – it will help you understand what they need to know

  • Attend parents evenings so that you understand their progress, strengths and weaknesses

  • Discuss their next steps with them – guide them to make realistic and aspirational choices

  • Help them decide on their GCSE options – as you know them best, you can advise on what they may like to study

  • Attend events such as the Careers Convention – this will help you and them understand the options available

  • Encourage them to develop their skills and qualities by participating in extra-curricular activities (personal development)

  • Encourage them to attend school, be punctual and wear the correct uniform – this is preparing them for the workplace

  • Help them to find a work experience placement – you may have contacts yourself

Parents/Carers are able to seek advice from our Independent Careers Adviser by email should you need more help – there are also booklets below with a vast amount of useful information.  For Parents/Carers of students with SEND, please see the section on the Student page and the booklet below.
