Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students is of paramount importance, and something that we take extremely seriously and pride ourselves on here at Ellowes.
Ellowes Hall Sports College, within the Invictus Multi Academy Trust and lead by our Executive Head, recognises its legal duty under s 157/175 of the Education Act 2002 to work with other agencies in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and protecting them from harm.
Our guidance is taken from the most up to date nationwide Government guidelines “Keeping Children Safe in Education” issued in September 2019, as well as acting on advice from our local Dudley Safeguarding Children Board.

The safety of our young people is of paramount importance to the school and its staff
To ensure the safety and the welfare of our students, we employ the following security systems on our school site:
- Internal and external CCTV cameras
- The school is alarmed with a 24/7 security response
- The entire school site is fully enclosed by 8ft high secure fencing
- The school buildings are fitted with smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems
- We employ an on-site Site Manager
- All employees are enhanced DBS checked
- All visitors wear visitor badges
- The school has comprehensive health and safety/fire safety policies and procedures
It is our responsibility to ensure that our staff are well trained in safeguarding, and that this training is maintained and kept up to date. We have set protocols within school for staff to follow when there are concerns, and we strive to educate our students on how to keep themselves safe.
Safeguarding is governed at Ellowes by Mr Bill Caldwell, our Designated Safeguarding Governor and a copy of our current Safeguarding policy can be found below;
