Remote Education Policy

Remote education will only be considered as a last resort when in-person attendance is not possible, or when government guidance advises against it. Ellowes Hall Sports College will implement remote education strictly as a short-term measure, only when students are unable to attend school in person.

Where possible, remote education will follow the same curriculum as in-person lessons. However, some subjects, such as science, PE, and technology, may require adjustments due to the lack of specialised equipment at home. To support students remotely, we will employ a variety of approaches, including:

• Live online lessons

• Pre-recorded lessons (via platforms such as Sparks Maths)

• Lesson activities uploaded to Arbor

• Resource packs

• Home reading (through books or online texts)

• Project work

 

For students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities, our SENDCos or teaching assistants will maintain regular contact to ensure all necessary support is provided.

In the event of a school closure, students are required to log into Microsoft Teams to access live lesson links and assignments from staff. All students have been shown how to access Microsoft Teams during Computing lessons. If your child lacks suitable online access, please contact the appropriate Head of Year for assistance.

In the case of a closure due to adverse weather or unsafe site conditions, an announcement will be made on the school website and social media platforms. Where necessary, parents/carers will also be informed via email, text message or phone call.
