House System

Ellowes Hall uses its House System to encourage academic achievement and excellence across the school.

Upon starting at school, students will be allocated to one of our four Houses (Clent, Enville, Himley and Kinver). Their school tie will feature the House colours and they will have the opportunity to represent their house in numerous sporting and academic competitions. Recent competitions include Inter-House Maths Competitions, Mascot Creating, Sports, Debating and Ellowes Bake-Off competitions. House Captains will take on the responsibility of ensuring that they have teams that cover all these competitions. House Captains will be selected through a rigorous application process. There are four roles available in each year group and there are leadership courses offered to support the House Captains in completing their duties as well as opportunities to become a prefect in the future.

Houses also compete on academic achievement, student attitude and attendance – the results of which are generated automatically from school reports and registers. The House Points achieved in these areas are huge and contribute towards the prestigious House Trophy.

House Competitions

Our house teams run regular competitions throughout the school year all working towards points for their houses. We enjoy seeing students entries and there is a real sense of healthy competition across the houses when updating them on scores. See below some examples of our competitions.
